The QED tutoring program

Due to frequent requests by families in private, public and parochial schools for access to QED teachers, we now offer tutoring services as part of our array of resources.  Our certified and experienced teachers are available for all grades, elementary through college level, and for all needs, including:

Math help: we have found that students in traditional school settings who struggle with math often have gaps in their prior knowledge.  They may not have understood a topic completely, but the class has moved on. Our teachers assess a student’s knowledge to determine whether these gaps exist and remediate.  Based on this new and complete understanding and given the proper time and attention, students often begin to move quickly ahead and actually enjoy math for the first time ever.

Enrichment: students who easily grasp academic material may become bored in a traditional classroom setting.  Lack of appropriate challenge leads some students to routinely turn their mental engines off – and it can be very difficult to restore their interest in school.  Our teachers work with gifted students regularly to provide them with in-depth academic challenges not available in the regular classroom environment.  Working once or twice a week with an enrichment tutor and independently on a related project is often exactly what is needed to jump-start a child’s creativity and enthusiasm.

Online: QED tutors skype lessons to students who cannot access their services in person. Still the same personalized and dedicated level of service, but conducted via computer.

Essay writing and critical reading: our teachers help students with construction of the critical essay, creative writing, proofreading and refining assignments, grammar and more.  They work on writing in the language arts area, but more important, help students develop skills for writing in other content area, like science, social studies and math – so important for the high school and college student.

Study Skills and Organization: our teachers are experts in helping students learn how to set priorities, meet due dates, and organize paperwork.  We are the invisible force behind many highly-efficient students.

Set tutors: for theater and film.

Specific tutoring for: ISEE, SAT I and SAT II, AP test, mathematics through calculus and trigonometry; science through advanced biology, chemistry and physics, college essays, technology and the arts.

Please note that while QED provides homeschool services throughout the U.S., our hourly tutoring service is limited to the New York City area.
